Chinatown

Firstly, i didn't now that Jack Nicholson was that old. Secondly, it was just a mellow but classic performance from Jack Nicholson, towards the end of the movie. Most part of the beginning of the movie was quite dull and it handed me back my attention, up until the mid point of the movie. The soundtrack in the background gave a "scary movie" feel to it although it was not the case. A good plot though even though i did not enjoy the way the movies ended, i believe there should have been more to the end.

Trainspotting

It was definitely a deep independent movie, which caught my attention a lot, although probably a low budget movie, the actors were able to give a world class performance to capture each character for who they were meant to be. Both the "druggies" and the average person. An intense movie.

Citizen Kane

What can i say about that movie. The plot was very good for the time in which it was write in, although some parts of the movie were very different from the way people act nowadays, which threw me off a bit. Mr. Kane parts where not really an award winning performance although certain parts of the movie were of interest to me but all in all, it was not landmark movie, more of a par to say the best.

Nosferatu

As i was in formed during the class, Nosferatu was actually the first vampire movie made and well it was not bad. It had a gripping plot to it which maybe to others did not capture their attention, it certainly did capture mine. Although the movie lost my attention a few times it was still a decent flick.

The funny part to me was how naive the man  was even though he was shown so many signs that dracula was a vampire, he ignored them and got killed. All in all, it was a decent movie to be kept in the collection, but can not be compared to the current vampire movies such as Van Helsing and Underworld.

Foreign Film Post: Breathless vs slumdog

Foreign films have the clear barriers which would be language barrier, to enjoy foreign movies of the olden day periods (which were 20, 30 years ago) you have to at least now a bit of the language although the actions of the actors portray most of the feelings and emotions, which could be displayed in the sub-titles, some people who are not fast readers, would not be able to fully grasp what the movies is all about.

Compared to such a hit like slumdog millionaire, which was produced in english but with some indian language being spoken in between will get a larger crowd due to the fact that the movie is being spoken in the universal language. Not to talk about the camera angle, musical and dance which have been put into the movie.

Yet the movie was not as interesting as the one's we had watched previously but is still not bad. I would not recommend this movie to anyone who has a short attention span.

Silent movie post

Watching the Charlie Chaplin movie or clips was actualy quite funny, although i've watched cartoons made about charlie Chaplin, which were equally hilarious, i was curious to find out if they would live up to their animated counterparts.

I was very impressed with how everything didn't have to be explained with speech but the jokes and comedic styles could be understood by the actions of the Charlie and his crew. There was no sound at all just the background music being played, which as the pace of the movie increased so did the music.

Finally, it was really funny and i would compare it to another silent comedy great, laurel and hardy.Great show.

Memorial day weekend, one of the main indications that summer has arrived, and the movies that are to arrive with it are already getting my attention. Transformers 2 coming out late in june, the 1st was a hit, hoping the second one can equal it. Drag me to hell, also being a big horror movie fan, ill be expecting that the movie will something to remember. Finally, Terminator salvation, all I'm going to say is that the trailer better not be playing with me because the movie looks sick.
